Spinal deformities

The problems associated with spinal deformities in adults vary and include changes in appearance, back pain, sciatica, imbalance and difficulty walking long distances. Surgical intervention is a major procedure and should therefore be carefully considered.

symptoms

Age-related degenerative changes of the intervertebral discs and joints may cause curvature of the spine known as scoliosis.

In addition to back pain, there may also be a forward or sideways leaning position that can make walking difficult. In some cases, scoliosis can cause nerve pain in the legs, which makes walking problems worse.

care

Initial treatment should be aimed at maintaining strength and mobility through physical activity and treatments such as physical therapy and hydrotherapy.

Pain relievers such as anti-inflammatories and even strong pain relievers can be useful if used carefully.

Using walking aids such as canes and walkers can help preserve mobility.

Surgical treatment for degenerative scoliosis is suitable for severe deformity, or if there is nerve pain that causes a significant limitation in daily functioning. The surgery usually involves a procedure followed by a prolonged period of rehabilitation.

symptoms

Surgeries to fix the spine have become common in recent years for a variety of reasons and conditions. Unfortunately, sometimes the result of these surgeries can be a deformity in the spine, a situation that may cause a bent posture and even difficulty walking because of this posture. In some cases, there may also be persistent nerve pain in the legs.

care

Treatment of spinal deformity after surgery should be aimed at maintaining function and mobility through exercise and treatments such as physiotherapy and hydrotherapy.

Pain relievers such as anti-inflammatories and even strong pain relievers can be useful if used carefully.

Using walking aids such as canes and walkers can help preserve mobility.

Surgical treatment can correct spinal deformity after surgery, although it is usually a complex procedure with prolonged rehabilitation afterwards.

Deformation after surgery

Deformation after a fracture in the spine is caused by a loss of height of the broken vertebra which may cause deformation in the structure of the spine and may cause difficulties in standing and even walking.

These conditions can appear after a fracture as a result of contusions, car accidents and even due to fractures as a result of low bone density (osteoporosis) and can appear along the entire length of the spine.

care

Treatment of spinal deformity after a fracture should be aimed at maintaining function and mobility through exercise and treatments such as physiotherapy and hydrotherapy.

In cases where the deformity causes pain that interferes with daily functioning, surgical treatment to correct the deformity can be suggested.

It is usually a relatively complex surgical procedure followed by a prolonged period of recovery and rehabilitation.
